  1. What was chino reaction when he meet Nazzario?
In my opinion chino was surprised and impressed how professional he looked. "he looked like a confident tall men who walked around the neighborhood, he looks like a good man. Just doing his job". this quote proves that Bodega has educated people in his organization not just gangsters or people who sell drugs. This also impacts chino decision in joining the organization.

    1. There were a lot of doubts about Chino associating himself with Bodega. Bodega had a lot of people in his organization and one of the people that stuck out the most was Nazario. Chino always heard the name but never actually met him. When he did finally he had a great and inspiring first impression. After analyzing his height, his clothes and how he carried himself, he stated, "Nazario, with his clean-shaven face and the good looks of someone who never in his life has been in a street fight, went around spreading favors for Bodega". This shows that being affiliated with Bodega would most likely have you doing well financially. This can cancels out any doubt in Chinos mind because he isnt a very wealthy guy and the inspiration of Nazario will lead chino to want to work with Bodega.

  2. Why is Nazario acting so secretive with Bodega?

Nazario is acting secretive with Bodega because of Alberto Salazar. During this chapter, Nazario desperately wanted to talk to Bodega about Salazar in a concerned way. He constantly acted as if he cared about Chino but urgently needed to discuss about Salazar with Bodega. On page 71, it reads mainly about Nazario speaking about Salazar. "'No, he looks like a good man. Just doing his job. I don't know, Willie, this could be bad..'" This shows how nervous Nazario is about the situation. Although at first, he speaks nicely about Salazar, he ends with a scared tone. On the same page, Nazario keeps interrupting Bodega whose trying to talk to Chino. "'Willie, esto está serio. This guy has something." He then continues to act suspicious when he starts to talk with Sapo. "'Sapo,' Nazario said, walking past me but stopping a moment to pat my shoulder on the way as if to say good job, 'Sapo, we have to talk.'" This as well shows that Nazario is also talking to Sapo coincidentally as he spoke with Willie but resumes ignoring Chino. I have the feeling as if he is sending Sapo to do something dangerous. I think this way due to the fact that before Sapo and Chino go into the museum to talk with Nazario and Bodega, Sapo asked Chino for a "little favor" that he won't be telling him until later on.

  3. Why does Sapo guilt trip Chino into doing a solid for him?

Sapo knows that if he does not guilt trip Chino, he will not do what Sapo says to do. Chino was at home when he receives a phone call from Sapo where he says, "Wass up, Pana? Like, can you do me a solid? Like, you my main-mellow-man. Remember the day the entire CIA crew wanted to jump yo'ass b'casue you were wearin' a sweatshirt with their color? Or like the other day when I got Bodega to send someone to slip a lease under yo' door?" This is a clear example of Sapo ruthlessly manipulating Chino into doing his bidding. Stashing a pack of weed. Sapo is doing this as a precaution in order to avoid his weed being stolen by two girls.

  4. What does Chino hide from Blanca? Why?
Chino hides the new apartment he got for Blanca and he wanted it to be a surprise but whats different is it got more rooms for the baby that Chino and Blanca are having and Chino wants to keep it a secret the reason for why hes working for Bodega. Therefore this is what Chino says" Why didnt you tell me? she demanded waving a piece of paper in my face. "I had to find this under the door Julio?"I looked at the paper in her hand.It was a lease...Im so mad at you Julio keeping me im the dark! After all we have talked about after i asked you to tell me everything you're up to you kept me in the dark!..... I kept you in the dark? I get us an a better place to live and kept you in the dark?" This shows how mad Blanca felt knowing that Julio hide the new apartment he got for them two. Also Julio told Blanca he will tell her everything with the truth but this time he hide it from her because he did not want Blanca to know how he got the apartment and whos helping him get everything he needs to move with his family and with what money hes doing all this.

  5. Why does leaving the projects matters to Chino?
To Chino it matters because Chino wants to live far away from his neighborhood to a new place far away where he doesnt has to work doing favors to no one. Some textual evidence "why? as long as its better block" because I want to know!" her face got angry again."Besides do you ever think that i might not want to live there? Did you ever think of that Julio? what if i dont like the block the building? from here on out i better not get second hand news allright",I said. We'll talk about moving tomorrow, okay?" This shows how Blanca really felt deep down not knowing how far it would be if she would like the apartment and how was her feelings about it. Chino didnt showed his feeling as he really cared about what she was saying because he only worried mostly on moving out far away.

    1. Cut down the quote again. Much of this quote doesn't support your topic sentence (it's about Blanca, not Chino). 6/10
