From my point of view I think being a chamaleon is in both side. Because those animals change their skins colors as a person can change their personality, sometimes it can be in a good way when that person cal chamaleon get on trouble they get out easily because they are smart about those stuff. like the real animal that change hes skin when a predator is looking for him. But in the other side he can play a bad role too "bodega e gotta talk about zalasar" Nazario also do bad stuff too because as a chamaleon confuse hes pray when hes going to attact by changing hes color skin. Like Nazario change hes personality when he's going to do a bad stuff. one day he can treat you right and the other day he can hit you in your weak side.
What are the relationships between Nazario & Bodega?
Nazario & Bodega have a "team-work" relationship that can pretty much overcome, & achieve anything together. Nazario is a very highly educated man & knows the laws inside out, he graduated out of Brooklyn Law School.Bodega is a drug lord and is also is wise man, what makes this partnership so strong is that they have what each lack. In other words, Nazario is book smart & Bodega is street smart. For example, one of their brightest ideas was when Nazario told Bodega to get himself a hot-dog vendor and a license. Next, to sell hot dogs and give the dope for free. This was a legal dirty work because according to the law he wasnt actually selling dope he was selling hot dogs and giving the dope for free. This way he didn't get convicted of selling dope. Even though he did jail time for 3 yrs, this shows how bright their teamwork is. In pg 101 it states "Bodega & Nazario were running an entire neighborhood." Both Nazario & Bodega were succesfull because of the relationship they had,the combination of one being "street smart" & other being "book smart" led them to "run the neighborhood."
Why cant Chino work hard on being a lawyer? Chino hates lawyers and Nazario is telling Chino the being a lawyer you get good money paid. One textual evidence is" you ever tought of going to law school when you graduate?" Nah, I hate lawyers no offence." Thats fine but considere it. We'll take care of the expenses. We will need people like you in the hear. Future we will need as many as we can get".This shows how Nazario told chino what good job he can get to help his family with any needs and Chino doesnt enjoy being a lawyer or studying for it. I think that Nazario is right because thats away your family want to be in need ... needing money or other things.
Why Chino is finding Nazario the nices person now? Chino saw how Nazario was working on helping donate in the salsa museum. One textual evidence is "I shook the mans hand again and followed Nazario. The salsa museum was free but upon existing. Nazario put a twenty in the donation box.I had only three dollars and i wished i would give more... "I still wanted Nazario to go away but i knew he wouldnt not just yet.I knew he hadnt taken me to the museum just because hed wanted to show it to me". This shows at first Chinos feelings changed knowing who Nazario really was and seeing real into him.
Your first post is an interesting question. Add a little more context and explanation. I'm not sure I understand the point of your second post -- there is nothing about Chino thinking Nazario is nice in the quote. 7/10
Book 2 Round 2 Why does Chino and Sapo not want white people living in their neighborhood?
In Bodega Dreams Chino and Sapo notice that that more white people are starting to move their neighborhood (East Harlem) which is full of hispanic minorities. Which is not a good thing for them because then the bills are going to get higher and the rent, which is more affordable for the whites. And most hispanics that barely have money and are struggling to pay their bills and rent so they move. "All thosrwhute yuppies want to live in Manhattan, and they think Spanish Harlem is next for taking, when they start moving in, we won't be able to complete when it comes to rent, and we'll be left out in the cold". What he is saying is that more white people want to live in Manhattan and their neigborhood is next. And that they will be left out in the "cold".
Does Nazario have his own agenda? In the first part of the book we think of Nazario as Bodega's handyman spreading his goodwill everywhere. We thought he was a person who was under the command of Bodega, that is until he comes up in the book. In the way Nazario acts and talks we notice a pattern as if he is the leader. For example he says, "Truth was i was angry because i was in the dark. I could tell something else was happening, something big, something that worried Nazario enough that he wanted to do anything he could to keep Bodega clam and happy." In this quote we see another side of Nazario and Bodega as if they have a secret. It is my understanding that i believe Nazario wants to be on top. In the quote it says that Nazario wants to be keep Bodega happy and maybe this is because Nazario is planning something, something big and that something i believe is overthrowing Bodega. In many pages of the book we notice that Nazario is really smart, actually way more smart than we thought as he has the same visions Bodgea has expect that Nazario wants to be the ruler of the recreation of el barrio. I believe that Nazario is the real one pulling the strings while Bodega is just the puppet.
Does Bodega really care about Bodega? As Bodegas character unveils more we notice that Nazario seems to be the real leader in the planned conquest of el barrio leading us to believe that Nazzario doesn't really care for Bodega. In one part it say, "Nazario would lead, leaving Bodega to take the hits." Although little this sentence shows us very much of Nazario true intentions. I believe that all that Nazario purpose in their plan is to take the fall in case anything happens. His job is the be the face of the operation as Nazario works in secret and in case anything happens and if they get busted Nazario won't be the one taking the hits it will be Bodega. Maybe since the day they met Nazario had his plan and took Bodega as the perfect person for his plan. After all this i'm lead to believe that Nazario doesn't care for Bodega at all and will let him take the fall.
Why does Chino doesnt want to do anything with Bodega?
In the book "Bodega Dreams" by Ernesto Quinonez, Chino does not want to have nothing with Bodega. Chino doesnt want to do anything with him because he is sure that Bodega is connected to Salazars death. He also thinks that Sapo was apart of the death as well. on page 97, Chino says "Now more than ever, i wanted nothing to do with Bodega because i was sure he was connected to Salazar's death. I hated to know that that would include Sapo too, but i had begun to wonder if Salazar was the first man Sapo killed. If Sapo kill that reporter then he deserved to go to jail". According to this quote, Chino is surely that Sapo and Bodega are connected to Salazar's death. He thinks that Bodega sent Sapo to kill Albert. Also Chino thinks that if Sapo actually did, which he probably did, then he should go to jail. But if Chino were to find out that it was actually them, Chino would not rat out on them. Especially Sapo, he felt bad for him. Sapo was his "pana" for years now. But he still thinks Sapo should go to jail if Sapo killed him.
When Chino first met Nazario in person, he was surprised to see that Nazario was a very popular guy in the neighborhood. The way Chino thouht about Nazario was different from bodega. In one quote, Chino said:"Unlike Bodega's eyes, which were pools of ghosts and sadness, Nazario's eyes were black wholes, nothing could escape them, not even light, as if he could read your mind. He inspired and at the same time, inspired me." In this quote, Chino states how nazario is different from Bodega by the look of their eyes. Something that i observed from the descriptions was that Bodega is a feared man, who's personality is sad. And for Nazario, i know that he can not be fooled, (because of the part: "Nazario's were black wholes, nothing could escape them.") and lied to. Seems that the only similarities between Bodega and Nazario are that they both enspire, and intimidate people. So far in this chapter, not much more is known about Nazario.
Why did willie Bodega not want ebarito to know he was Bodega? I think he said that because if you see person you think its power aint gonna be that good. "if you see god he won't seem that powerful anymore."(111) This is important because he wants people to just think he is a good untouchable guy and if u see him it willl make people wounder if he is really untouchable.
Response: Bodega and Nazario met when Bodega was selling drugs on the street and Nazario found him after getting out of Law School. Nazario assisted in helping Bodega sell his dope without getting caught by the police. After that day, they became friends and pursued Bodega's dreams. On page 101, Chino recalls the time when Bodega had told him a bit about how they met. "Nazario had told Bodega to get himself a hot-dog vendor's license, place the dope inside the frankfurter cart with a real franks in it and before taking the money, to tell the customers that heroin was free and that they were really paying for the hot dog." This shows that Nazario had helped start out Bodega's drug career before he was able to gain a lot of money and power in the neighborhood. After they met, Bodega was actually sent to trial for giving dope to a cop. But, Nazario was his lawyer and so Nazario outsmarted the jury and Bodega didn't get sent to jail.
Why does chino not want to associate with Nazario? Response: Chino refuses to work with Nazario because they are two different people. Nazario is a man who will do almost anything to get what he wants, while Chino is a man who believes in doing what is right. During a conversation between the two, Nazario was making Chino an offer but Chino responded by saying, "I'd rather make five bucks honestly and spend it knowing it's all mine than fifty and worry about my back". ". This shows that they think differently from each other and they both have different perspectives of when it comes to money. One example of this is if your cousin thinks that collecting pennies is good but you think that collecting pennies is pointless you both have different views in how you think. To conclude this is why i think chino does'nt want to work with Nazario.

BD BOOK 2 ROUND 1 Why is Blanca so suspicious about Alberto Salazars death? Blanca is suspicious about Alberto Salazars death because she feels like she knows who did it. Blanca thinks Sapo murdered Salazar, Because the man had a huge bite mark on his shoulder and It also happened in East harlem which is where he lives. The reason she has a strong feeling that it was Sapo is because Blanca has witnessed Sapo fight and he likes to bite people when he fights. So shes thinking that he was part of this Murder. "Tell me that you know for a fact that Sapo is not involved in that reporters death. A piece of the mans shoulder was missing". Blanca asks Chino if he knows if Sapo had anything to do with it because Chino and Sapo are close friends. Chino knows it was Sapo but he would'nt want to tell Blanca because Blanca could "snitch" on Sapo and have him locked up.
